God is as faithful as gravity
This morning I saw something I've never seen before. The sunrise was in its glory, soft pink hues playing with blue across the clouds, from behind the mountains east of me. Of course, most people missed it-- maybe asleep, maybe not in the right place to see it, or driving here or there or going for a run, busy busy busy. Then, the pink started to fade, to be replaced by… grayish-blue. It felt more like a sunset than a sunrise! Where did the sun go?
It made me think of Jesus. The breaking in of His glory into the world, which most of the world missed, either because they were not in the right place at the right time, or they were spiritually asleep, or too busy. And now, His glory is hidden for a time. The world finds it easy to imagine that all the colors of Jesus' story are fictions, inventions, poetic nonsense at best. They look up and only see grey. I could imagine this morning the people around me believing the Sun itself to be a delusion. But that does not change the reality of the Sun, nor the fact that it will come again very soon in overwhelming radiance. So it is with Jesus.
